La Vesícula Biliar

La vesícula biliar es una  víscera  hueca pequeña, con forma de ovoide o pera, que tiene un tamaño aproximado de entre 5 y 7 cm de diámetro mayor. Se conecta con el intestino delgado (duodeno) por la vía biliar común o conducto  colédoco . Su función es la acumulación de  bilis , contiene un volumen de alrededor de 50 ml de bilis que libera al  duodeno  a través de los conductos antes reseñados, y entra en él a través de la papila y  ampolla de Vater . Está adherida a la superficie visceral del hígado.

Colelitiasis (cálculos en la vesícula biliar)

Los cálculos biliares son depósitos endurecidos de fluido digestivo que se pueden formar en la vesícula biliar. La vesícula es un órgano pequeño, con forma de pera, ubicado en la zona derecha del abdomen, justo debajo del hígado. La vesícula biliar contiene fluido digestivo llamado bilis, que se libera al intestino delgado.

Los cálculos biliares tienen tamaños que oscilan entre pequeños, como granos de arena, hasta grandes, como pelotas de golf. Algunas personas desarrollan solamente un cálculo biliar, mientras otras desarrollan muchos cálculos biliares al mismo tiempo.

Quienes tienen síntomas con los cálculos biliares, por lo general, requiere que le extraigan la vesícula biliar con cirugía.

Colecistitis Aguda Litiásica

Es la inflamación de la vesícula biliar asociada a Cálculos (piedras) en su interior. Es muy dolorosa. En personas diabéticas los síntomas pueden ser tardíos y cuando se presenta la enfermedad es muy avanzada y puede dar complicaciones muy graves como Piocolecisto (pus adentro de la vesícula biliar) y/o vesícula gangrenosa.

Coledocolitiasis (Cálculos en la vía Biliar)

Se produce por la migración de los cálculos de la vesícula hacia la vía biliar principal y su consecuente obstrucción. El paciente puede estar gravemente enfermo, ictérico (amarillo), acolia ( heces de color blanco) y coluria (orina amarilla oscura intensa), requiere tratamiento urgente de descompresión de vía biliar. Se puede complicar con infección de la vía biliar llamada Colangitis.

Pancreatitis de origen biliar

Es la inflamación de la glándula pancreática como consecuencia del paso de cálculos por la vía biliar principal o la obstrucción del conducto principal. Produce dolor intenso abdominal y puede ser una complicación grave principalmente en personas jóvenes. Requiere en la mayoría de los casos hospitalización.

Los factores que pueden aumentar los riesgos de padecer cálculos biliares incluyen los siguientes:

 

  • Ser mujer
  • Tener 40 años o más
  • Tener sobrepeso u obesidad
  • Ser sedentario
  • Estar embarazada
  • Seguir una dieta con un alto contenido de grasas
  • Seguir una dieta con un alto contenido de colesterol
  • Seguir una dieta con un bajo contenido de fibras
  • Tener antecedentes familiares de cálculos biliares
  • Tener diabetes
  • Tener ciertos trastornos sanguíneos, como anemia de células falciformes o leucemia
  • Perder peso muy rápido
  • Tomar medicamentos que contengan estrógeno, como anticonceptivos orales o medicamentos de terapia hormonal
  • Tener enfermedad hepática
